Mad Men Casting Call

Hey as most of you know Banana Republic is hosting that Mad Men competition and I agreed to take photos of my lovely friend Alison for it. Ok I have decided not to continue with the remix challenge. Every time I get ready in the morning dresses like the one above jump out at me and I finally reached my breaking point. I've learned that I just can't limit myself when it comes to my closet because I'm not very good at it. Plus, I'm heading down south to TN for a few days this week and they have amazing thrift/vintage stores and I know in my heart I couldn't stay away from them. However, it was fun while it lasted and I'm glad that now I can wear all of my little summer frocks. Yeah!

I found this dress a few months ago while I was in TN (you see what I mean??) and about fell over as soon as I saw it. I knew this baby was coming home with me and later being initiated into my closet. I felt like a 6 year old preparing for her birthday party, all I really needed was a big cake! The last time I wore this I paired it with a black cardi, black flats and a black belt, this time I really wanted to play with the color. The green matched nicely within the dress and the belt just topped everything off. Went neutral with the shoes because I didn't want to take away from the print of the dress, and added bonus- I found them at Target for $12, score!

I also wanted to give a little shout out to one of my jobs Studio 35. I honestly had the best work night of my life there last night. Kevin Smith and his crew came and filmed two SModcasts and it was amazing. He came in June and they all had such a great time they wanted to come back. He and his crew are amazing (& hilarious) people and if you ever get a chance to see them live it is worth every penny, you'll laugh so much. And if you are ever in the Cbus area come visit Studio 35, it's a little cinema treasure and a staple in Columbus (opened in 1938!) I'm just lucky to be able to work there and with some pretty fantastic people at that.

This is going to be short and sweet since one of my best friends of all time is here for a visit, Ross! We are grilling out and chilling and chatting it up. This outfit I wore the other day to run errands-more specifically the library. I finally got a card! I just wanted to be comfy for my errands but still look somewhat presentable. The hat and scarf are newly thrifted and I am pretty sure the hat is a guys hat, but I kinda don't care for $2. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ahh I am so ready to get this remix over with and wear all of my little summer dresses. Last night I was making a list of all the ones I want to wear before the season switches out. Hopefully its soon... Anyway, today I went and got ice cream with my co-worker (&pal) Jodi and it was perfection! The weather was nice and the ice cream was delicious. After that we went to...(insert very dramatic music)....the thrift store. I know I shouldn't have stepped foot inside but I did and...I spent. I know, I know it's part of the rules but oh well.

You see, I found burgundy Isaac Mizrahi heels, my size!, for $3 and I caved. I shouldn't have put them on and lord knows I don't need anymore shoes but what's a girl to do when she finds lovely Italian made shoes in her size for a mere 3 bucks? Well let me tell you- she is to buy them! At least that is what the fashion gods told me inside of my head. Now they are waiting for the perfect Fall day to make their debut and gosh darnit I can't wait!

Miu Miu Heels

Several months ago I finally got my rump down to the Gap Outlet to check things out. I left a happy little lark! This dress is 100% silk (yes a pain to clean, but so pretty in person) and was originally $1oo but since it was a 2008 dress it was way marked down to $20! I was like hells yes you are going home with me! Since the dress is simple and all one color I figured I would pop a little in with my Miu Miu heels. I feel as if these shoes are the perfect date night shoes, especially a first date (hey ladies hey!).

That Retro Thang

When I got up this morning this coral halter is the first thing I laid my eyes on. My knees are heeling nicely so I decided to give my jeans a go and cuffed them to give that extra retro touch and to go along with the retro-ness of the halter. Extras to top it all off- my leopard sunnies, I found these glasses in Chicago and fell in love as soon as I saw them. I'm a sucka for anything leopard print. I tried to create little bouffant which is kind of hard when you have all this hair. And I put on my little gold shoes to bring out the brown/goldish print in the shirt. And there you have it, a modern yet retro inspired look. In the future I'd like to pair this halter with a pair of high waist jeans, something I'm scouting for fall.

When I bought this dress one of my main reasons was because you could dress it up and dress it down. So I decided to take that note and create a day to night look. The first look could be for work, school. The cardigan adds a preppy simplistic school girl look and the flats make it easy to walk around in. The night look I decided didn't need too much dressing up, I just added the gold cuff and shoes to compliment the yellow tones in the dress. I'd say if you plan on going from day to night keep the accessories simple so you're not carrying around your entire closet.

At first I wasn't sure about this outfit but I ended up really diggin' it. One of my favorite era's is the 1950's and that was what I was trying to channel here, a weekend 50's gal. I'm really feeling the dress shirt tied at the waist for the summer because it makes everything so much cooler- weather wise and adds a cute touch to the outfit. Also, speakin' of the 50's (well now 60's) who is pumped for Mad Men tonight?! I have my DVR all set up to record, can't wait to see what happens!

This top is actually a nightie-hah! but I thought it was pretty enough to be worn around town. The jeans are Lucky Jeans that I found at a thrift store. Even though it isn't the most figure flattering top I still felt like a little ball of sunshine. Plus I love anything that is flowy or see through, I do not know why, but I just do!

In relation to the update of Sara and I going our separate ways I too will be continuing on with my own fashion diary. I am also considering doing a wedding planning/weight loss blog, I go back and forth on it, but I think it would be more for me and my attention disorder brain to document everything. I will keep you all posted. I really appreciate all the kindness you have showed us, whenever I am having a bad day reading all your kind words really lifts my spirits-thank you for that!

Updates

Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know that after the month of July Lindsay and I will not be continuing with the blog. We have both decided that it is too challenging for two people to have a blog and find the time to work on it together. I will be starting a new blog- a fashion diary keeping track of my daily outfits. I will let you all know when the new blog is set up, for now I will keep posting my outfits on flickr.

We just wanted to express how much your kindness has meant to us. In the beginning we were just two gals who wanted to share our style in a fashion community and you all allowed us to do that, so thank you. We never would have thought that we would have gained this many followers. It has been fun and we will still be around just in different formats.

First of all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Today is my mom's birthday, that's her hold the cake- isn't she cute? I was lucky enough to go home and spend some time with her and my pops. I had a lot of fun and ate a lot of food. Plus my parents are pretty awesome so I always enjoy being able to see them. Mom, you are great and I hope one day when I'm a mom that I'm half as good as you are to me. Love you!

Alrighty, onto this ensemble. I just wanted to keep it simple and sweet. The dress was the first thing I saw hanging in my closet, hats (& wet hair) are what I've been living in lately and the wedges just seemed to give it that extra summer touch. However I soon realized that wedges and uneven grass do not mix.

Sorry for posting not on my day but I'm trying to keep up with this Remix. I also don't like having to post 3/4 photos for one day- a little excessive. I had originally planned on wearing jeans but a. too hott and b. i tripped last night and banged up my knees pretty bad so that resulted in me wearing these pretty little skirts. And I'll most likely be wearing skirts/dresses for the next few days until these knees heel up, don't worry though I'm rockin' some batman bandaids and that (somewhat) eases the pain.
